For those asking: Droid X bootloader is still locked, but it's possible to hijack the Android or the boot process to start a recovery.So the good news is yes custom roms are a possibility the bad news no custom kernels but with the speed of the newer phones I do not see this as such a bad thing personally. And I would think this means a Ninja Blur / Moto Blur free phone would be possible being maybe the best news about this.
